Miniland Cars: USA

Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible

Built in 2008

At first, this is NOT Elvis' pink Cadillac! I wanted to build a pink Cadillac and it should be different enough to the one from the Ghostbusters. So I decided to build a 1956 one with those fantastic fintails.
Pink elements were used in the middle of the 80's in many Belville sets. Getting enough elements for a 1:20 scaled car took a long time, but it was worth to wait.
Usually the models need tons of jumper plates. There are extremly rare in pink. So this car had to be build without them. There are only three jumper plates used!

Cadillac Miller Meteor "Ghostbusters Ecto-1"

Built in 2008

An old and trashy 1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor Ambulance car was transformed to the well known Ecto-1. The roof contains all the stuff a ghostbuster needs for his daily work.
The 59 Cadillac has one of the tallest fin-tails ever made. These old american cars always need lots of chromed elements. Just sad, that they are not in prdutction any more.
Tha last photo was made within a small miniland landscape at one of the LEGO office in Billund.

Chevrolet Impala "Olsenbanden"

Built in 2007
Photos have been taken at an industry harbour near my home place

Olsen Banden Chevrolet Impala. This is a 98% copy of the LEGOland version of the Olsen Banden Chevrolet Impala. Unfortunately you need a very good zoom lens for getting detailed photos in the park, because the car and the gang were placed deeply inside the scenery. But I think the place is choosen very well, because this car is very popular and will be stolen often if placed to close to the border.
It's not easy to copy this cool model. Fortunately I've got some hints from the LEGOland Park Designer to let my copy go closer to the original.
The Olsenbanden movies were very popular in germany. The LEGO versions of Egon, Benny and Kjeld hit their originals perfectly. The photo's were taken on an industry harbour which was great as background.

Dodge Monaco

Built in 2009

It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a packet of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses... Hit it!

A used 1974 Dodge Monaco sedan, bought by Elwood Blues from the Mount Prospect police.
Defenately a milestone in movie history. Is there anybody out there, who haven't seen the Blues Brothers?

Fleetwood Bounder RV "Krystal Ship"

Built in 2014

The perfect hideout: a heavy used Fleetwood Bounder. The RV has enough space for all the equipment needed to cook nice "stuff". And yes, there are bullet holes in the door
For european eyes the dimensions of this RV are truely insane. Just image to drive through the city of Berlin, or Paris and try not to kill any pedestrians while turning through the small streets. And I bet if you jump up and down with 4 people at the very end, the front wheels will start to spin in the air.
This creation is so incdibly massive, that interior must be builded. Take a look at the "kitchen". Anything forgotten?

Ford Falcon XB "Mad Max"

Built in 2013
LEGO World Copenhagen

The colour scheme of the police cars is so nice. And the fact that their painting is different, makes it even more interesting to build them.

Ford GT40

Built in 2008
LEGOLAND Windsor

In the past, elements in Maersk blue where very rare. The older AFol's may remeber ;) In this time I wanted to build a car in Maersk blue, because I like the challenge to build cars in colors with less different available elements. A Maersk transporter was too boring and after a while the "Gulf" color scheme came to my mind. From that point it was clear to build the Ford GT40.
A few weeks after finishing my Ford GT40, I've discovered that there was a GT40 in the LEGOLAND Billund also (see small image). It was very interesting for me to see how they made it. One difference are the opening doors and the opening engine cover. But I guess these features wouldn't make sense for a LEOGLAND model.
The orange rims are still quite rare on Bricklink. But it was worth to to buy them. The truck is made by members of the Brickish Association. Now who is driving on the wrong side of the street?

Ford Model B - ZZ Top "Eliminator"

Built in 2007

Slip inside my sleeping bag...

It was really a challenge to make it angular and stable. The windshield is too small and the mudgards are too wide and yet I love the look!

GMC Vandura "A-Team"

Built in 2007

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team!

During all the exhibitions next to the Ghostbusters car, most people instantaneously know the source of that van.
When the Monster Dino (4958) came out in 2007 I thought it should be possible to use the included power function elements for a remote controlled car. Sadly the part designers focus layed on Technic, so the battery box and the motors don't have any studs! Anyway it had to be a van to get enough space for all the electronic stuff. In the Legoland I've already seen a VW Bully, so my choice was the GMC Vandura with it's very well known color scheme.

Lincoln Continental

Built in 2008

A beautiful, black limousine. Silent star in several movies; James Bond was driven in one of those.
The suicide doors are getting more and more popular, these days. Very nice detail which must be included in the model.
This Lincoln was made in 1967. Surprisingly Lincoln also made a convertible! They must have used tons of steel to make the chassis stable enough.

1958 Plymouth Fury Meteor "Christine"

Built in 2008

What a beauty. Forgotten, only fit for srap? Dead? Far away from that. But beware, she is very jealous!
Some paint polish and lots of nice words and she'll shine like at her first day.
Yes, she's still on fire. Btw.: this photo is made in front of our barbecue grill. But don't worry no bricks were harmed during the photo shooting.

Pontiac Aztek

Built in 2014

Remember my name: HEISENBERG!
Pontiac wanted to make a good job and tried to build a fantastic car. But somehow they managed it to create the ugliest car in history of the world. And this is not just my opinion, the Pontiac Aztek has won several prices just for being ugly. At least a unique feature :)
To be so ugly and unwanted was probably the main reason why it was choosen as the ride for Walter White in the TV Series Breaking Bad. And it fits so perfectly to the boring chemical teacher. The "fern green" was created especially for the TV series, Pontiac never delivered the car in this color. But finally a good reason to buil a car in sand green.
